Lee County Booking Photo Records
A mugshot is a photograph made during booking or corrections processing. It documents identity in a custody record at that point in time. It does not show the outcome of the charge, whether the case was dismissed, whether the person was convicted, or whether the person is still confined. Release also does not erase the source record by itself, though lawful expungement, sealing, exemptions, redaction, and agency retention can change public access.
Source identity matters in Lee County. A photograph in Three Forks Regional Jail’s JailTracker is a local booking image if the record identifies it that way. A KOOL image is a KDOC offender photograph and should not be renamed as the Three Forks booking photo. A news image can document publication by that outlet, but it cannot establish a release date. Keep the label used by the owner of the record.
Kentucky’s Open Records Act permits requests for existing public records, subject to exemptions. It does not promise that every photo remains available forever. A request should describe the photo and related booking or release sheet closely enough for the custodian to locate the record.
Lee County Mugshot Search Channels
No single photo source covers every Lee County custody type. Start with the facility that created the record. Three Forks serves the local-jail path. Lee Adjustment Center is a state-prison path, and KDOC owns the correctional information even though the facility is privately operated under contract.

The best source is the original agency. Commercial reposts can persist after an official result changes. They may also merge people with similar names or omit later court action. Do not substitute such a copy for the booking sheet, release record, or signed case order.
Three Forks Release Mugshots
The official Three Forks site links to a page labeled Current Inmates. Its embedded JailTracker search can expose an image on a current individual record. The jail publishes no released-person photo archive, 24-hour release gallery, or 72-hour release gallery. Once the current record drops away, a name search cannot be treated as proof that the image or booking event never existed.

Use the visible record only for what it says now. For an image after release, ask the records custodian for the existing photograph instead of relying on a stale screen capture.
No Lee County Mugshot App
No branded Three Forks or Lee County sheriff mobile app was located, and the official jail navigation does not link one. That negative finding matters because app-only photo galleries exist in some counties, but no such channel can be claimed here. The historical Three Forks Facebook page is supplemental. It is not established as an official release ledger or lasting photo archive.
Use JailTracker while a record is current. After that, use a narrow records request. Social posts can show that an image was published on a certain date, yet they do not prove a person’s current location, final case outcome, or release. Check the jail, court, or KDOC record for those facts.
The same caution applies to a copied image in a search result. Without the source record, the date, facility, and identity can be unclear. A booking photo should remain linked to its creating agency and booking event.
Request Lee County Booking Photos
The official fallback is a focused request to the Three Forks records custodian. No jail-specific request form, custodian email, office hours, or copy schedule was found. Call the jail at 606-464-2598 and confirm the custodian and delivery address. The facility is at 2221 Fairgrounds Ridge Road, Beattyville, KY 41311.
- Collect the person’s full name, approximate booking date, and booking or case number if known.
- Ask the jail which official custodian receives Three Forks open-records requests.
- Use the Kentucky standardized form or a signed written request.
- Request the existing booking photograph, booking sheet, and release sheet rather than asking staff to create a new summary.
- Ask for any existing release date, release type, authority, and receiving agency fields.
- Retain the written response and verify any transfer through the receiving system.
Under KRS 61.872, a Kentucky resident may inspect nonexempt public records, and an agency may require a signed request and residency statement. Requests can be delivered by hand, mail, fax, or email. An agency cannot require only its own special form. KRS 61.880 calls for a written decision within five days, excluding weekends and legal holidays.
Inspection itself has no reproduction fee. Copies and postage may be charged under KRS 61.874 based on permitted costs. Exemptions, redaction, expungement, and actual retention still apply. Do not promise that every image will be produced.
KDOC Lee County Offender Photos
KOOL uses a camera icon when an offender photograph is available. This source applies to people in the KDOC system, including Lee Adjustment Center prisoners and some supervised or former offenders. It is not a complete archive of ordinary Three Forks detainees. A person can have both a local-jail and a state record when custody shifts, and the photos may come from different processing events.

This guidance supports a KDOC photo search but does not convert that image into a Three Forks booking photograph.
If a former-offender record or photograph is no longer public in KOOL, request the existing record from KDOC Offender Information Services, P.O. Box 2400, Frankfort, KY 40602-2400. Identify the person by name and DOC/PID number and ask for the official offender photograph and release or discharge record. Under 501 KAR 6:350, ordinary KDOC paper copies are generally ten cents per page plus postage, subject to actual cost and nonstandard production.
Unofficial Lee County Mugshot Copies
The research found a nonofficial Lee County candidate at recentlybooked.com. It may preserve an image after the official current roster changes, but its content can be late, incomplete, duplicated, or wrong. It is not release proof. No commercial photo site should outrank Three Forks, KDOC, the court, or a records response.
News stories and agency press releases may also preserve an arrest photo. Read the date and text with care. An arrest article documents what was reported then. It does not show whether a charge was dismissed, amended, resolved, or expunged. Compare later Lee Circuit or District Court records and the custody owner’s release record.
Do not link to or endorse a pay-to-remove publisher. Kentucky law gives special protection against that business model. Purpose-neutral source verification can be done through official systems without feeding sensational galleries.
Kentucky Mugshot Removal Protection
KRS 61.8746 is narrow. It bars commercial use of a booking photograph or covered inmate photograph obtained from a public agency when a publication or website requires a fee or other consideration for removal. The photographed person can seek an injunction, costs, reasonable attorney fees, and statutory damages. The law does not ban every publication and does not create a permanent public archive.
The distinction is important. A photo may be available from an agency yet subject to exemptions or later access changes. The anti-pay-to-remove rule addresses a specific commercial practice. It does not prove a publisher’s copy is accurate, current, or lawfully tied to the right person.
Lee County Mugshots After Expungement
Expungement is a court process that removes qualifying records from ordinary public access. It is not the same as release, dismissal, or a name vanishing from JailTracker. Kentucky’s official expungement page explains certification, filing, timing, and covered cases. Many eligible Class D felonies can be petitioned under KRS 431.073, subject to exclusions and waiting rules.

An order can change how agencies respond and whether a photograph remains public. It does not ensure that every third-party copy disappears at once.
After an expungement order, send the publisher or agency a copy through its official correction or removal channel and describe the exact URL or record. For an official source, ask how the order was implemented. For an unrelated web copy, document the request and avoid paying a fee that may fall within Kentucky’s restricted model. Court or legal counsel can address enforcement questions.
Verify Lee County Photo Context
A photo search should end with context. Confirm the person’s identity, booking facility, booking date, and source. Then check the release sheet or court disposition if release status matters. Three Forks and Lee Adjustment Center are separate systems. JailTracker is the local current-custody channel. KOOL, KDOC Daily Releases, and KDOC records cover the state path. A transfer can cause the first image to disappear while a second correctional record appears. Preserve both source labels instead of presenting them as one photo history.
When no official online image remains, a narrow request is the sound route. Ask only for existing records. Note the response date, and keep any denial or redaction explanation with the file.
